The installation of a concrete slab yields a flat, solid concrete surface, ideal for garage floor, shed base, workshop, or extra outdoor space. We carry out installation of slabs for homeowners across Metro Atlanta.  These include everything from small shed pads to full garage floors.  Every slab begins with the same base preparation.  And, we take great care regardless of the size of the slab you choose.

In Georgia, the process of pouring concrete begins with excavation and grading of the space before the addition of a compacted gravel base that is thick enough so that the slab does not settle unevenly in time due to the shifting of clay soil throughout the year. We put a vapor barrier under all slabs to be enclosed (garage, workshop floor, etc.) to prevent moisture from seeping up through the concrete over time. Steel mesh and other rebar reinforcement is put in place before the pour to help the slab not to crack as the earth underneath shifts naturally.

Depending on its use, we finish the slab in a specific way. Garage floors are often broom finished to provide traction. A floor slab that only receives storage or equipment might have a smoother trowel finish. Control joints are cut into every slab at measured intervals and provide locations for the concrete to crack instead of cracking across the surface plan in a random manner as it cures and settles slightly.

The installation of slabs may sound like one of our simpler concrete services, but the preparation of the base underneath is as important as it would be with a driveway or patio. No matter how good the concrete is, a slab poured over badly compacted soil will crack and settle.

Our Process
