Driveway Paving in Atlanta

Driveway paving is one of our more common jobs in the neighborhoods around Cascade. Homeowners want to replace older versions or add a paved surface to newer buildings. A driveway experiences more daily wear and tear than virtually any other paved surface on a property. As a result, the base that sits underneath is just as important as what sits on top.

Before any driveway paving can begin, we excavate and grade the area. We remove enough of the existing material to allow for a compacted stone base. This bottom layer carries the load, not the top, and it must be thick enough to withstand the push and settling of Georgia’s clay soil through the seasons. After the base has been compacted and graded so that water drains away from the home, we install the finished surface, whether that be asphalt, stamped concrete, or paving material that matches the home.

Throughout the complete process, drain planning is not only at the end. If your driveway slopes the wrong way, or doesn’t take into account where water might naturally flow across the property, it will develop standing water and erosion issues within the first year or two no matter how good the paving material itself is.

Whether you live in Cascade or one of the many neighborhoods that has large and beautiful mature trees, we will consider the roots before excavation. This is because paving too close to the root zone of a large tree can damage it as well as the new driveway as roots continue to grow under the new paving.
